Nepal Men won the two-match T20 series over Ireland Wolves with a convincing 71-run victory in Kathmandu today.

After winning the toss and opting on batting first, the home side displayed a charismatic swagger with the bat, racking up 198-7 from its 20 overs.

Each of the yop seven batters made double-figure contributions, with Gulsan Jha’s 47 from 32 balls the most eye-catching with four maximums registered along the way, although Kushal Malla’s 34 from 13 towards the back-end of the innings included an equal number of sixes.

For the Wolves, CSNI’s Matthew Foster claimed 3-42 and Ben White 2-40, but it was a tough ask to rein in rampant senior Nepal side on the rampage.

Stephen Doheny (26) and Ross Adair (17) began sprightly taking 43 off the first 29 balls, but both batters fell within three balls of each other and the momentum stalled.

The Nepalese spinners delivered a number of crucial mid-innings overs that stifled any thoughts the Wolves had of re-launching an attack, and Malla (3-15) and seamer Sompal Kami (3-17) finished any last resistance fromm the Wolves’ tail-enders.

That completes the two-match T20 series against Nepal Men – the Wolves now turn to a three-match T20 starting Thursday.
