The National Selectors are responsible for the oversight of squad and contract selection.

Andrew White

IRELAND MEN'S NATIONAL SELECTOR

Appointed to the role in 2017, White brings a wealth of experience, both past and present to the role, winning 232 caps in a glittering international career between 2000-2014, playing in both the 2007 and 2011 World Cups.

White captained the Northern Knights for three seasons at inter-provincial level and continues to play an integral role in the current Instonians side, which won the NCU's Premier League title in 2023.

Ciara O'Brien

IRELAND WOMEN'S NATIONAL SELECTOR

Ciara O'Brien, a former Irish international hockey player and cricket coach, was appointed Chair of National Women's Selectors in 2023.

In her own words, Ciara has “been involved in cricket all her life and took an extended break from the game as she pursued an international hockey career”. And what a career – 156 senior international caps over eight years, retiring in 2009. A lifelong member of Railway Union Cricket Club, Ciara has returned to playing cricket and getting involved in administration. She is passionate about the promotion of women’s sport and to ensuring that we are giving females every opportunity to succeed in whatever field they choose. Ciara also had a post-playing career in the corporate sector and recently completed Cricket Ireland’s On The Front Foot programme.

Cricket Ireland has national selection policies that apply to men's and women's international and talent pathway cricket.

Selection Process (Men)

The National Men's Selectors will comprise:

An independent National Selector
National Men’s Head Coach

Ex-Officio non-voting members:

Men’s Team Operations Manager (minute taker)
High Performance Director
Men’s Talent Scouts (include all Provincial Union Head Coaches, and by invitation National Specialist Coaches, National Academy Manager and Talent Pathway Manager)

In addition, Performance Support Services (such as the Physiotherapist, Strength and Conditioning Coach and Performance Analyst) may be invited to attend meetings.

Selection Process (Women)

The National Women's Selectors will comprise:

An independent National Selector
National Women’s Head Coach

Ex-Officio non-voting members:

Women’s Team Operations Manager (minute taker)
High Performance Director
Women’s Talent Scouts (include all Super Series Head Coaches, and by invitation Assistant and National coaches, National Academy Manager and Talent Pathway Manager).

In addition, Performance Support Services (such as the Physiotherapist, Strength and Conditioning Coach and Performance Analyst) may be invited to attend meetings.
