International Umpires

Meet Ireland's international umpires panel.

The Panel...

Every year Cricket Ireland appoints four cricket umpires to the International Umpire Panel. the umpires are engaged on full-time season contracts.

The four umpires in 2024 are:

Roly Black
First appointed: 2018

Roly has been umpiring since 2006 - he stood as an on-field umpire in the Final of the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He stood in his first T20I and ODI in 2016.

Mark Hawthorne
First appointed: 2018

Mark is  the most-experience of the Pnel, havng stood in his first ODI in 2011 and his first T20I in 2012. In February 2019, he was selected as part of an umpire exchange programme with Cricket West Indies to stand in matches in the Caribbean.

Aidan Seaver
First appointed: 2024

New to the panel in 2024, Dublin-born, Wexford-raised Aidan has been umpiring for 13 years and has a wealth of experience at club, provincial, Associate and women's international levels.

Johnny Kennedy
First appointed: 2024

New to the panel in 2024, Antrim-born Johnny has been umpiring for 13 years and has a vast reseervoir of experience at club, provincial, Associate and women's international levels.

ICC Master Educator course

Irish umpire Alan Neill was proudly part of the first cohort of Master Educators for umpiring - a course started by the ICC to raise standards and proliferate knowledge within the global game. Watch this great video about the course.
