Clubs in the Northern Cricket Union that are based within the Belfast City Council boundaries have the opportunity to apply for development grants as part of the Belfast City Council ‘Support 4 Sport’ scheme.
The current round of applications, for which the submission deadline is January 21st, is for any activity taking place after April 1st, making it ideal for cricket clubs.

There are a wide variety of grants available ranging from smaller grants to be used for individual events and training, through to larger grants of up to £5,000 for long term projects aimed at increasing participation.

Applications should be made online via www.belfastcity.gov.uk/funding

Small Development Grants of up to £1,000 are available and can be used for;

• Coach education
• Club development training
• Start-up costs for a new club or a new section within a club
• A try it/taster event to promote your club or sport
• A sports festival or development event to provide new competitive opportunities

Large Development Grant; this is up to £5,000 per financial year, and is available to any cricket club or community organisation affiliated to Cricket Ireland. To qualify the club must have a development plan that covers at least three years. These grants are awarded to support activities that encourage the development of sport within the Belfast area through the growth of existing clubs or through projects aimed at encouraging new people to take up sporting activity.

There are also opportunities for hospitality grants to support events that will bring more than 50 people to Belfast for a sporting event, and individual grants for elite players to use towards the cost of travelling to train and compete. More information can be found on the Belfast City Council funding page.
