Cricket Ireland has launched a new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) e-learning module FREDIE developed in partnership with the Irish Centre for Diversity.
The launch marks another important milestone in Cricket Ireland’s continuing collaboration with the Irish Centre for Diversity and its long-term ambition to create a sport that is welcoming, safe and inclusive for all.
The FREDIE module, named for the values of Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement, provides a foundation for understanding inclusive practices across Irish cricket. It is designed for everyone involved in the game from players, volunteers and coaches to club administrators and staff and supports individuals in recognising how everyday behaviours and decisions contribute to a culture of respect and belonging.
Building on an established inclusive culture through education, the online course combines interactive content, real-life scenarios and reflective exercises to help participants understand the principles of equality and inclusion in sport. Completion of the module provides a certificate from the Irish Centre for Diversity and Cricket Ireland.
The initiative forms part of Cricket Ireland’s wider EDI programme and aligns with the organisation’s Strategic Plan 2024–2027, which places education, transparency and community engagement at the heart of sustainable cultural change.
Elaine Nolan, Director of Growth and Strategy at Cricket Ireland, said:
“Education is central to embedding inclusion across our sport. The FREDIE module gives everyone in cricket whether on or off the field the opportunity to learn, reflect, and play an active role in shaping the kind of culture we want to see in Irish cricket.
“Our continuing partnership with the Irish Centre for Diversity ensures we’re guided by best practice and evidence-based approaches as we strengthen our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.”
Caroline Cummins, Manager Director, of the Irish Centre for Diversity, welcomed the latest step in the partnership:
“We’re delighted to continue our collaboration with Cricket Ireland. Their proactive approach to EDI from leadership to learning sets an example for other sporting bodies. The FREDIE module not only raises awareness but empowers people to drive meaningful cultural change within their clubs and communities.”
The FREDIE e-learning module is free to access and open to all members of the Irish cricket community.
The module can be accessed via the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) section of the Cricket Ireland website.

Cricket Ireland will continue to monitor engagement and feedback from the module as part of its broader efforts to ensure that cricket in Ireland is fair, respectful and inclusive for everyone.
