The Ireland Under 17s squared the Celtic Cup series with Scotland with an emphatic victory in Cork, while the Under 15s were beaten against the West Indies.
Ireland U17’s levelled the Celtic Cup series with an emphatic 9-wicket win against Scotland at The Mardyke in the final game of the Celtic Cup series.

Josh Little’s new-ball burst saw him claim four wickets and the visitors were unable to repair the damage inflicted by the Pembroke left-armer.
Only Scottish skipper Angus Guy (20) offered any resistance as they were bundled out for 99 in 31.1 overs – skipper Harry Tector (3-13) and leg-spinner Varun Chopra (2-21) also among the wickets.

Openers Marcus Poskitt and Andrew Vincent both made 40 as the Irish knocked off the modest total for the loss of just one wicket in 22.5 overs to earn a share of the trophy.

Head Coach Nigel Jones was delighted with the way the lads bounced back after Tuesday’s match. “Josh has led the attack brilliantly over the two matches (8-54 off 21 overs) this week and continues to mature as a cricketer.

“Andrew Vincent has also been impressive at the top of the order with scores of 61 and 40 not out. He has shown maturity by adapting to conditions and seeing the job through today with his 40 not out. There were other notable performances which is also very encouraging ahead of the Hampshire Academy series at the end of the month,” Jones added.

The Hampshire Academy series for the U17’s is a three-match series in Belfast.

“After a busy summer and a few sore/tired bodies we will look to make a couple of squad changes for that series,” Jones continued. “These changes will only be to replace current squad members with ongoing niggles and/or developing injuries.”

Meanwhile in England, Ireland Under 15’s were also in action as they faced a very strong West Indies side.

The Irish fought back well from a poor start to post 186 in their 40 overs with Tim Tector top scoring with 42, while there were valuable contributions from Mitchell Thompson (32*), skipper SJ De Klerk (20), Archie Johnston and Kyle Magee who both made 18.

In reply the Irish battled bravely with Thompson, Hoey and Magee all among the wickets, but West Indies sealed a six-wicket win with two overs to spare.
