Cup Finals update

Player availability has been advised regarding the Evara Irish Senior Cup Final

Cricket Ireland has today advised that two players from the current Ireland Men’s squad have been released to play in the Evara Irish Senior Cup Final on Sunday, with four players given a rest period and will not feature in the Cup Final.

The two players that are permitted to play for Pembroke on Sunday are Andrew Balbirnie and Byron McDonough. However, Lorcan Tucker, Harry Tector, Jordan Neill and Gavin Hoey will be rested.

Explaining the decision, Graeme West (Cricket Ireland’s High Performance Director) said:

“We are highly conscious of workloads and priorities of our international players and are looking to manage their health and wellbeing during what is a busy time.

“Our approach is that players that have been heavily involved in the current Afghan series and who are set to play in the European T20 Premier League should be rested. This means Lorcan Tucker, Gavin Hoey, Jordan Neill and Harry Tector will not play the Irish Senior Cup Final given they go into camp with their franchises on Monday.

“However, Andrew Balbirnie and Byron McDonough will be free to play on Sunday.”
