National Cup win

Ballyspallen romp home over Glendermott in Battle of the North West

Ballyspallen have lifted this year’s Evara National Cup after a convincing 162-run win over north-west rivals Glendermott at Clontarf on Saturday.

Opener Hassan Shahid struck 91 off 99 balls to lead the line, while Raveen Yasas (75), Curtis McElwee (44) and Graham Kennedy (43) offered valuable support as the ‘spallen mounted 282-4 from their 40 overs.

Graham Kennedy then came out and claimed 4-11 off 7 overs to ensure his side headed off any thoughts of their rivals mounting a serious challenge.

This was Ballyspallen’s first Evara National Cup win – indeed, the first for a north-west club since its’ inception as a competition in 2012.
