Jane Maguire joins up with Irish squad after injured Ava Canning withdraws

Jane Maguire has been approved by the ICC Technical Committee to be called into the Ireland Women’s T20 World Cup squad to replace Ava Canning.

Canning was sent for a precautionary scan yesterday after she raised concerns over her back after the match against Scotland last Saturday. Unfortunately for the Leinster all-rounder, the scan has revealed a stress fracture in her back and she will fly home to begin recovery and rehabilitation immediately

Replacing Canning is 23-year old Jane Maguire from The Hills Cricket Club. Maguire – whose sister Aimee is also part of the squad – was unlucky to miss out on the squad originally after recovering from a knee injury sustained during the summer.

Maguire will join up with the squad tomorrow.
