Graeme West, Director of High Performance for Cricket Ireland, said:

“We are delighted to be invited by the ECB to enter a development side in the ECB Super 4s. The standard of this competition is typically very high – and is part of the system that many recent English internationals have come through.

“The squad we have selected are a mix of fringe and emerging talent coming through the High Performance Pathway and some players will use the games to enhance their preparation for the senior team’s one-day international series that follows against England.

“The trip also reflects Cricket Ireland’s intention to increase the quality of cricket we offer below the senior team programme. The games at Loughborough will be invaluable in assessing the readiness of our emerging talent to enter the senior team environment, having performed well this summer at the provincial and club levels.

“Alice Tector will lead the squad in this competition before she joins up with the senior squad for the ICC Women’s Championship series the following week – while we welcome back Lara Maritz into the high performance system.

“There were several players unlucky to miss out on the squad – but this should be seen as motivation to strive for future selection as we seek more opportunities like this to give our up-and-coming talent exposure to top-level cricket.”
