BREADY – In mostly bright sunshine with 648 runs scored, many of those from Orla Prendergast, the Typhoons fell short by just 32 runs.

The day began with Dragons winning the toss and electing to bat. But they soon found themselves in trouble at 40-3.

Orla Prendergast and Louise Little then formed a crucial partnership of 134 that wrestled back control in the innings.

Prendergast in particular accelerated matters with 159 off 109 deliveries, helping the Dragons to a very formidable 340-8 from their 50 overs.

Typhoons needed to start well but at 18-2, then 67-3 may have worried about falling behind the run rate required.

Innings from captain Rebecca Stokell (89 off 109), Ava Canning (63 off 78), Zara Craig (39 off 40) and Christelle van der Schyff (50 off 31) gave them a chance.

However the Dragons did just enough with the ball to defend their total and win by 32 runs.
