DUBLIN – Ireland Under-19s Men’s squad will travel next week to South Africa for a training camp and four 50-over fixtures against North West University and a North West Under-19s Invitational XI.
The camp marks the starting point of a programme for the next cycle of under-19s players with a view towards the ICC Under-19 Men’s World Cup in January 2028.
Adamstown’s Sidharth Biju will lead the squad – a squad that also includes his younger brother Shravon.
The squad will depart Dublin on 7 October for a training camp and will play the fixtures in Potchefstroom.
Pete Johnston, Under-19s Head Coach said:
“This tour provides the players with early exposure to different conditions, climate and strong opposition. Potchefstroom offers an excellent high performance environment and the tour will form a valuable part of the journey towards a World Cup in around 14 months’ time.
“While it is great to see representation on this tour from across four of our five Provincial Unions, we will also be working back home with the non-travelling members of the Under-19s Winter Squad to ensure we maintain a depth of talent and a group of players who will ensuring there is a healthy level of competition for places within the system.”
