Alana Dalzell

Shirt number: 26
One of very few female bowlers in the country who can swing the ball away from the right-hander, Alana continued to improve in the last 12 months. After finding her way back into the team during Ireland's series against Sri Lanka and England late in the 2024 summer, Dalzell burst into the limelight when she came in at number nine and hit a boundary (her first in international cricket) off the final delivery of the third ODI against England to Ireland an historic win over England - only the second in Irish women's cricket history.

One of very few female bowlers in the country who can swing the ball away from the right-hander, Alana continued to improve in the last 12 months. After finding her way back into the team during Ireland’s series against Sri Lanka and England late in the 2024 summer, Dalzell burst into the limelight when she came in at number nine and hit a boundary (her first in international cricket) off the final delivery of the third ODI against England to Ireland an historic win over England – only the second in Irish women’s cricket history.

Alana anticipates better than most in the field, and her pace to the ball is eye-catching. Able to take the new ball or come on later in the game, she bowls with great energy and increasing control.

Notably, she has played senior men’s cricket for her club, Bready CC and took to international cricket like a duck to water when she played her debut game for Ireland against South Africa in 2022 in Dublin.

The all-rounder is fully immersed in cricket with her day job also in the game as a Cricket Connects Officer in the NWCU.
