After a winter of training, Cricket Ireland have announced a Senior and Performance Squad for the summer months with a few new names appearing on both.
YMCA’s Jennifer Gray and Lurgan’s Hannah Grieve take the step up for the first time, as does Clontarf’s Una Raymond-Hoey. With a jam-packed summer ahead, all three will be hopeful of getting their chance on the senior team before the year is up. Amy Kenealy also makes a return to the Senior Squad.

There are new faces in the Performance squad as well with Samantha Bann and Naomi Matthews from Waringstown and Donaghcloney respectively named in an Ireland squad for the first time. Claudia Johnson from YMCA makes her first step up, too, as does Malahide’s Fiona Gill and Leinster’s Anna Kerrison. YMCA’s Gaby Lewis impressed after being called up to winter training and joins her sister Robyn on the Performance Squad.

Speaking about the announcements, Ireland captain Isobel Joyce said, “I’m looking forward to seeing how much the younger players have come on over the winter. We have a really good bunch of younger players that can all push each other and hopefully will help bring up the standard of women’s cricket at club level.

“What’s really great is seeing the names of Northern clubs creep back into the squad announcements. Some of our best players in the past have come from Northern Ireland including our player of 2012, Clare Shillington, so I’m excited to see what they can bring to the table.”
