Whilst the playing season may be over, there is still a lot of cricket happening around the country. Last weekend saw the first in a series of Cricket Ireland ‘Welcome to Coaching’ courses being delivered in the NCU, with 23 coaches from 11 different clubs attending.
Michael Hingston, Scott Irvine and Eugene Moleon delivered the 6 hour introduction to coaching cricket at University of Ulster Jordanstown, covering topics such as how to run a safe session, coaching basic technique, the role of a support coach and player centred coaching. The course is an individuals’ first step on the ‘coaching pathway’ and is ideal for anyone looking to get involved with coaching cricket.

A second Welcome to Coaching course will take place in the NCU on Sunday 23rd November at Bangor Aurora Leisure Centre. It promises to be another success with over 20 coaches already signed up, further indicating how Coach Education is progressing within the union.

It wasn’t just the coaches in action as well, with the neighbouring hall hosting the NCU Under 15 regional development sessions, showing just how popular cricket is becoming, and how strong links with the university are.
