FORT LAUDERDALE, USA – USA Cricket confirmed today that the Ireland Men v USA Invitational XI warm-up match has been cancelled as a precaution, and both the Irish and USA squads will play intra-squad centre-wicket practice games at the Broward County Stadium.
The statement said:
USA Cricket announces a number of Team USA squad and other series updates for the upcoming Dafabet USA v Ireland Men’s International Series 2021 at the Broward County Stadium just outside of the City of Fort Lauderdale in Florida. The build-up for the historic series continues at pace, but a number of members of the squad are yet to join up with their teammates, or had their departures delayed, as a result of COVID-19 related issues. USA Cricket issues the following latest updates:
• A number of players have tested positive during pre-series testing, they are all safely in isolation and will need to complete the requisite 10 day period and only be able to be considered for selection once they return a negative PCR result after their 10 days in isolation.
• As a result the pre-series warm-up games scheduled for tomorrow, Monday 20th of December have been cancelled. Both squads will partake in their own centre wicket practices instead.
• A number of replacement players will come into the two Team USA squads for the series and will be announced as soon as possible.
• All five matches continue as scheduled with the first game in the Dafabet USA v Ireland Men’s International Series getting underway at 2pm on December 22nd.
