Ireland Under 19’s beat the Isle of Man by 80 runs at Carrickfergus this afternoon as the side continue preparations for the World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Jersey in July.
Batting first the Irish side posted a formidable 298-7 from their 50 overs, with Sonny Cott the star of the show with a brilliant 115.

Both William and Gary McClintock made half centuries, with the twins both scoring 57 as the Isle of Man were made to toil in the field on the hottest day of the year so far in Ireland.

In reply the Isle of Man did not hang around and scored at a run a ball for the first 20 overs, but as is so often the case, wickets were key, and two for Rory Anders followed by two in two balls for Tom Stanton saw the islanders reduced to 129-5 at the half way stage.

As scoring slowed and wickets continued to fall the game was over with plenty of time to spare as the Isle of Man were bowled out for 218, well short of their target.
