Stuart Poynter has crowned a memorable week which featured a county championship debut by signing a professional contract with County Championship Winners Durham.
Poynter has had a great season with the gloves and bat for Ireland, MCC Young Cricketers, Durham 2nd XI and finally Warwickshire last week.

The full press release from Durham County Cricket Club is below.

The 22-year old, who made his debut in 2012 forced his way back into the LV= County Championship winning side in August, taking 5-31 against Surrey and 3-4 against Nottinghamshire, the match which secured the 2013 title for Durham.

Harrison said:

“I am really happy to have extended my time at Durham. It has been such a successful season for the club and has been a privledge to be part of this team.

“I am looking forward to working hard in the winter and hopefully getting the opportunity to win more games and silverware for Durham CCC in the future”.

The club can also confirm that 22-year old wicket-keeper/batsman Stuart Poynter has also joined Durham for next season. Poynter, who has also represented Ireland, comes to Durham from the MCC Young Cricketers but did play some Second XI cricket for the Durham side this season.

With Michael Richardson’s elevation into the First XI this season as a batsman, it was felt that more depth was required in the wicket-keeping area.

Poynter will be joined at Durham by fellow MCC Young Cricketer, 20-year old batsman Graham Clark who has also joined Durham for next season. All-rounder Clark, has previously been withthe Durham Academy before joining MCC Young Cricketers for the 2013 season in order to gain more opportunities at 2nd XI level.
