An unbeaten 83 from William McClintock guided Ireland U17 to an 8 wicket victory in their rain reduced game against Scotland at Eglinton today.
With the match reduced to 37 overs a side, the Domemana man combined well with Pembroke’s Sonny Cott (30) at the top of the order putting 95 for the 1st wicket.

Harris Aslam took 2-32 for the Scots dismissing Cott and Dennison (6) before Ireland captain Jack Tector (23*) saw his side to their target of 156 alongside McClintock with 23 balls remaining in the match.

Earlier, Scotland’s Jack Waller (38) and Neil Flack (31) put on 61 for the third wicket, but the loss of 4 wickets for just 5 runs left the visitors in trouble at 92-6. But some big hitting from Ruairi McPherson (30) and Ryan Brown (21*) late-on saw Scotland to 156 for 7.

Gary McClintock, Rory Anders and Fiachra Tucker all picked up two wickets apiece for Ireland.

With yesterday’s match falling victim to the rain, today’s win for Ireland has set up a winner takes all situation for tomorrow’s clash with the Challenge Series up for grabs with both teams on three wins each.
