Kim Garth makes her debut for the Sydney 6ers Women in the WBBL at the North Sydney Oval.
Today in Australia, Kim Garth is in the squad for the Sydney 6ers Women against the Hobart Hurricanes Women in the WBBL at the North Sydney Oval.
This is a great achievement for the talented bowler who has already earned 79 caps for Ireland at 20 years old. The first of these caps come in an ODI against New Zealand Women at Kibworth in July 2010 at the age of 14. She earned her spot on the team by consistently scoring runs and taking wickets for Pembroke in Division 1 of the Women’s League in Leinster cricket, as well as her performances in the Super 3’s competition, which started in 2015. These performances led her to being awarded with the Cricket Ireland Women’s International Player of the Year in 2015.

Kim continues to develop her bowling, saying recently she “experienced first-hand the importance of being able to bowl under pressure” in the memorable series against South Africa and Bangladesh in summer 2016. Never one to rest, Garth is also developing her skills with the bat. The right handed batter has made a highest score of 72* when she faced the South Africa Women’s attack at Anglesea Road in August of last year. This development as a world class all-rounder was highlighted last month when Kim received the honour of being named as part of the ICC Women’s Team of the Year for 2016, the only player being from an Associate nation making the team.

Kim will next travel to Sri Lanka for the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers 2017 in early February where the team will face Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and India in their group, as well as a warm-up game against Bangladesh.

Congratulations to Kim on her debut!
