Cricket Ireland today paid tribute to former President and Chairman John Caldwell who died overnight at the age of 75.
The Ballymena native was Chairman of the Irish Cricket Union from 2000-2002, and was President of Cricket Ireland in 2008.

Current Cricket Ireland Chairman Ross McCollum paid tribute to Caldwell saying: “John was a tremendous ambassador and servant for Cricket Ireland who filled a variety of roles with distinction and honour.

“He was Chairman of Cricket Ireland when Adrian Birrell was appointed as head coach, and was the architect of strategic plans which laid the foundation for our success in recent years.

“The sympathies of Cricket Ireland go to his wife Nan and the family circle. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”

*Funeral arrangements:
There will be a family-only service On Sunday morning, followed by a service for John at West Church in Ballymena at 2pm on Wednesday, June 8th open to others.

Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to the James Henry Funeral Services, 100 Broughshane Street, Ballymena for the Chest, Heart and Stroke Association.
