The Ireland Under 19 team are set to face their English counterparts in a two game One-Day International Series at Grace Road, Leicester on the 18th and 20th July. These games will act as the final preparations before Ireland fly to the Under 19 World Cup in Australia.

Both games will be free entry and provide a chance for keen cricket fans to see England’s future stars take on Ireland Under 19s ahead of this year’s ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup in Australia. The games both start at 10.45am.

The approaching ICC Under 19 World Cup later this summer will be staged in Townsville, Queensland with England facing Ireland in their second group match of the tournament. England start their campaign with a match against hosts Australia on 11th August at the Tony Ireland Stadium, Townsville.

England Development Programme Head Coach Tim Boon said: “The two fixtures against Ireland will provide us with a great opportunity to warm up ahead of the World Cup in August. The Ireland team are a very strong outfit and will represent a tough test to the guys before we travel to Australia in August.”

Ireland Under 19 coach Ryan Eagleson said: “The players are really looking forward to the challenge of taking on England and the fact that the teams will be meeting again in Australia gives the series added excitement. George Dockrell and Graeme McCarter will be familiar to England fans given their performances with Somerset and Gloucestershire, and in addition we have a number of exciting all-rounders.”
