Lorcan Tucker blasted 46 not out for Ireland Under-17s as they beat the Netherlands by 5 wickets in a dramatic final over finish in today’s T20 encounter.
Having been set a target of 120 for victory, Tucker held his nerve in the final over of the game to seal the win for Ireland with a maximum and just balls to spare.
Earlier, Rory Anders claimed 3 for 16 off his 4 overs, and Fiachra Tucker 2 for 21 off his as Ireland reduced the hosts to 119-7 off their 20 overs.
Today’s win means Ireland leave the Netherlands with two wins from three, after losing out in yesterday’s 50-over match.
Having bowled the Netherlands out for 202, Ireland looked to be on course for victory with skipper Jack Tector scoring his second half century of the tour.
But once Tector departed lbw to Sikander Zulfiqar for 64 in the 46th over with Ireland needing 25 for victory, three quick wickets went down and the visitors came up 13 runs short.
Next up for Ireland Under-17s is their home series against Scotland in the North West on the 12-14 August.
