Cricket Ireland has today confirmed that Josh Little has withdrawn from the current squad that has assembled to play two T20 Internationals against India this week.
The National Selectors will not call up a replacement for Little, but will use the opportunity to bring in 20-year old David Delany in a development capacity.

Richard Holdsworth, Performance Director for Cricket Ireland, said:

“The national selectors and coaching staff of the senior men’s team are implementing a new initiative to provide opportunities for young players to gain experience being involved in the dynamics of the senior squad as part of their development. We successfully trialled this on the recent trip to Sussex by bringing in Harry Tector, and this week we will use this circumstance to provide David a development opportunity.”

“The expanding programme of fixtures over the next four years means we need to look at creative ways of increasing the talent pool of players ready to take that next step in their careers. These development opportunities provide invaluable experience and insights for our younger players, which is in the long-term interests of Irish cricket.”
