Firhouse set for Leprechaun Cup derby

Back
Back

Firhouse will get its first taste of the Leprechaun Cup on Thursday when Scoil Treasa host local rivals Holy Rosary NS in what will be both schools’ first ever cricket match.
The home side will be looking to add to a big week of sport in the school, with their hurlers in action at Croke Park on Tuesday.

Normally keen rivals in Gaelic games, the transition to bat and ball has been comfortable and should be just as intense.

Players from both schools have shown great promise since beginning their respective LCU/SDCC cricket programmes in the Autumn and boast talent in every department of the game. The school groundsman has already been preparing a playing strip while local media will be covering the match and should not be disappointed with the quality of the contest. It’s too close to call, but whoever wins on the day will have every chance of a decent cup run in 2013.
Other planned games coming up include:

Thur, May 2nd Castleknock Nat v’s St Patrick’s – Porterstown Park
Thur, May 2nd – Holy Rosary v’s Scoil Treasa – Firhouse
Fri, May 3rd – Rathfarnham Parish v’s Taney – Terenure (Being live scored on CricHQ)
Thur, May 9th – Scoil Mobhi v’s Springdale – Clontarf
Mon, May 13th – Kilashee NS v’s Rathmichael – Pembroke
Thur, May 16th St John Bosco’s v’s St Andrew’s – Phoenix Park
