James Taylor has been named as England captain for the upcoming Royal London ODI with Ireland in Malahide.
The Nottinghamshire batsman is one of eleven players to be named today, with further players to be added to the squad once England’s third Test against the West Indies gets underway on Friday.

Tim Bresnan and Steven Finn bring experience to the squad with well over 100 ODI appearances between them, while Lewis Gregory, Zafar Ansari, Sam Billings, James Vince and David Willey are all included and could make their first appearance for England on May 8th.

Ireland have already announced their squad for the match, with William Porterfield leading an experienced group for the match in Dublin.

After being named as captain Taylor said: “To be given the opportunity to lead your country is a huge honour. There are still some very experienced and talented cricketers in that team who I’d have been delighted to have as my captain, so it is a privilege and one I’m going to relish.

“It’s going to be brilliant leading an England team in a one-day international. We know it will be a tough game against Ireland and this match provides a great chance for us all to show we can play a huge role in limited overs cricket in years to come.”

There are still some tickets remaining for the clash, which will take place in Malahide on Friday May 8th, with adult tickets priced at €45 and reductions for junior and senior citizen tickets.

Get your tickets now to make sure you don’t miss out on your chance to welcome Ireland’s World Cup heroes home and see them in their first ODI since the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.
