Leinster and the North West both scored comfortable wins on the opening day of the 2012 Under 15 Inter-provincials in Belfast.
The teams arrived in Stormont and were greeted with a damp outfield and a delayed start looked likely. After an inspection by the tournament director, Richard Johnson, It was decided the match would go ahead as scheduled at 12 O’ clock. The two captains met for the toss and the Leinster captain, Jack Tector, won the toss and chose to bowl in favourable conditions.

Jack’s decision to bowl first was the right one as Munster found themselves struggling at 19-4 in the 8th over due to good opening spells from Rory Anders and David Murphy. A good partnership between Conor Andrew and Alex Deane frustrated the Leinster bowlers but when David Delany removed Conor Andrew for 14 and Andrew Sheridan got the wicket of Alex Deane the end was near for Munster.

Gareth Delany and Adam Chester came on and got the last remaining Munster wickets. Gareth Delany finished with an impressive 3-3 off 3.1 overs as Munster got up to 52 all out.

The runs were quickly knocked off by Brian Smyth and Sonny Cott who scored 20 and 27 respectively and did not offer any chances to the Munster bowlers.

Leinster’s next match sees them play NCU who lost to the North West by 6 wickets on the main square in Stormont at 11 O’ clock.
