It has been a very busy and productive few months for Cricket Coach Development in Ireland.
It has been a very busy and productive few months for Cricket Coach Development in Ireland.
From grassroots to high performance coaching qualifications, to workshops, shadowing and mentoring opportunities, First Aid and Safeguarding Children courses and new coach development strategies – the Coach Development Team have hopefully been able to meet most of the needs of our coaching workforce and we look forward to the next few months and fitting in more of the same before the 2016 cricket season begins in earnest next month!

To give you an idea of what the Coach Development Team and our Regional Coaches Associations (Leinster CA and NCUCA) have been up to since September of last year:

• Three regional coaching forums in LCU, NCU and NWCU to give coaches a opportunity to speak directly to the Cricket Ireland Coach Development team
• Five Welcome to Cricket (Intro to Cricket – 3hr) Courses – over 50 participants in the CCU, LCU and NCU
• Twelve Welcome to Coaching (Intro to Coaching – 6hr) Courses – approx. 170 new ‘Support Coaches’ in the CCU, LCU, NCU and NWCU
• UKCC ECB Level 2 Certificate courses in four unions (LCU, MCU, NCU and NWCU) – over 65 new coaches starting on their Level 2 journey
• UKCC ECB Level 3 Performance Coach Award in Dublin – 23 coaches from all over Europe, 14 of which are from Ireland
• Power Hitting, Wicket-keeping and “Coaching Talented Athlete” Workshops
• Four First Aid Courses and four Safeguarding Children Courses
• Developing a two-year Coach Development Plan to give unions, CICA members and cricket coaches an understanding about what to expect for the next couple of years
• Working alongside the new Active Clubs Coordinators in the NWCU and NCU to assist with their development programmes
