The Northern Cricket Union, in partnership with Ulster University, has appointed Callum Atkinson in the role of Cricket Development Officer. The appointment is part of the University’s three-year £1million sports programme, which will help sport to thrive at all levels in Northern Ireland, from elite athletes and university teams to local schools and community clubs.
In his new role Callum will be responsible for driving forward the development of participation and performance in cricket at Ulster University and across the NCU area, in line with the NCU Development Plan and new Cricket Ireland strategy. He will work closely with Nigel Jones, Regional Development Officer and Simon Johnston, Active Clubs Co-ordinator in the NCU as part of the overall Cricket Development team.

He will be involved with player development pathway initiatives, the NCU performance academy, coaching and cricket development programmes, involving the further and higher education sectors, local authorities, schools, clubs and community groups.

As part of his role Callum will also promote cricket to students at Ulster University, to increase participation at all levels and improve performance of individuals and teams representing the University.
