Oak Hill – On a day with changeable weather, the Scorchers took full advantage of their chances to get their second win this season.

Winning the toss and batting first the Scorchers soon found themselves one down when Georgina Dempsey got the early breakthrough.

Gaby Lewis began to look threatening and appeared to be going through the gears until she was sent back to the pavilion by Ireland teammate Laura Delany.

Regular wickets, including a broken bail from courtesy of Julie McNally, continued to fall but contributions from skipper Leah Paul, Sophie McMahon and Shauna Kavanagh saw them reach 222 for 8 from their 50 overs.

The early run out of Sarah Forbes immediately put the Typhoons under pressure in their chase and more wickets continued this trend.

Laura Delany however battled on forming partnerships with Rebecca Stokell, Georgina Dempsey and Isobel McClean. But the regular fall of wickets continued to hamper their prospects.

Two wickets in two deliveries for Alice Tector provided the decisive moment which effectively put an end to hopes for the Typhoons in chasing down the total.
