A player with all the attributes to be a top level seam bowler, Liam not only has pace but movement to trouble any batter. After impressing during Ireland Wolves and Emerging Ireland duties, Liam received his debut caps in ODIs and T20Is against West Indies in 2025. He debuted in Test cricket against New Zealand in May 2026.
The Railway Union and North West Warriors pace man has offered a dogged determination and ability to hit the bat hard over recent seasons, performing consistently at Interprovincial level and stepping up seamlessly to Ireland Wolves and Emerging Ireland duties.
A player with the natural ability, McCarthy is a bowler who has shown resilience when, after a tough start to T20 international cricket, he came back to help Ireland win a series against India for the first time when they toppled the world champions in July 2026.
