As he jetted out to Sharjah to join the Kandahar Knights in the inaugural Afghanistan Premier League, Irish international Kevin O’Brien announced a new training partnership with Monaghan Cricket Club.
Kevin established the Kevin O’Brien Cricket Academy in 2011, and has been working with cricket clubs, schools and one-on-one with aspiring cricketers to improve their game and share his experience and insights with the next generation of cricketers.

As part of the new partnership with Monaghan Cricket Club, the Academy will run ten half-day coaching sessions that will incorporate the tactical, technical and mental sides of cricket, alongside working on the individual and team game-plans for batting, bowling and fielding.

Kevin said: “It is a real pleasure to announce this exciting partnership with Monaghan Cricket Club, who I hope will be the first of many clubs that my Cricket Academy can partner with in the future. I’ve been incredibly lucky throughout my career to have played cricket all over the world and learned so much by playing the game in varying conditions. I want to be able to share my knowledge and experience to help cricket clubs across Ireland develop with quality coaching and give back to the sport that has given me so much.”

Aravind Sudhaharan, Club Coordinator at Monaghan Cricket Club, said: “We are really excited by this venture with the Kevin O’Brien Cricket Academy as the club can only benefit by having someone with Kevin’s experience involved. I’d like to thank St. Macartan’s College, Monaghan County Council, Monaghan Sports Partnership, Brix Workwear, Balti House and Monaghan Electric for their contribution and support to the club.”

Just another way our international stars are contributing to the development of the next generation of cricket players.
