ICC have confirmed the appointment of David Cooke and Kevin Gallagher to their new International Panel of Match Referees
ICC have confirmed the appointment of David Cooke and Kevin Gallagher to their new International Panel of Match Referees, the second tier of match referees in world cricket. This panel has been expanded in order to better deal with the amount of international cricket being played, particularly in women’s and regional events areas, where those selected are expected to be primarily involved.
Both have already gained significant experience working with remote match referees in match managing recent Ireland women’s internationals at home, as well as acting as match managers in recent seasons of the Toyota Super 3s competitions.
Kevin said “I am ‘Happy and delighted to be appointed to this panel. The involvement in the Match Referee group will be a great challenge personally but also a great opportunity to bring International experience and knowledge back into local cricket”
David said “I am delighted to be nominated to the ICC Match Referees Panel and wish to thank CI for the honour of this prestigious position. It is particularly rewarding for me to be able to continue giving back to the game of cricket, which I’ve been passionate about for well over half a century. I have umpired and acted as Match Manager for the last number of years, and I’m sure the responsibility of being a referee will be both challenging and exciting.”
