Ireland Under 15’s beat Scotland by four wickets in the opening game of their Celtic Cup series in Ayr.
Scotland made a strong start reaching 107 for 2, but were pegged back by a superb display by Lisburn’s Nathan Doak, who claimed 4 for 36 with his seamers.
Instonians left-armer James Hunter took 2 for 15, while spinners Scott Ruttle and Kyle Magee each claimed 1 for 18 as Scotland made 169 for 8 in their 50 overs.
Oliver Metcalfe’s hard-hit 51 ensured the Irish were always ahead of the game, and despite a slight wobble mid-innings, Kyle Magee’s unbeaten 37 ensured the win with 7.1 overs in hand.
The teams meet again today in an extra game after Monday’s scheduled game was a complete wash-out.
