The Northern Knights and North West Warriors produced an enthralling final day’s play in the Hanley Energy Interprovincial Championship on Thursday, with all results possible into the last hour.

In the end, a rear-guard action from Nathan Smith and Gary Kidd secured the draw for the Northern Knights.

On Sunday, the two sides meet again in a Hanley Energy IP50 match at Waringstown CC.

There will be some changes to both squads but by far the most notable is the inclusion of the Ireland captain, William Porterfield, in the North West Warriors squad.

This will be Porterfield’s debut in the competition as he gets time in the middle ahead of the Intercontinental Cup match against the Netherlands which starts on August 15th.

Porterfield is one of four Warriors changes as Ricky-Lee Dougherty, Andy Britton and Graham Kennedy come in to the squad. Kennedy is returning from the successful under-19 World Cup qualifiers in Jersey where he was a deserving winner of the Player of the Tournament award.

Craig Young misses out, despite playing in the IPC match, as his workload is managed and monitored after his injury.

For the Northern Knights, Adam Dennison returns to the squad after missing the Championship match and Shane Getkate was unavailable for selection due to injury.
