Elaine Nolan has been appointed by Cricket Ireland in the role of Participation Director.

Currently employed by New Zealand Cricket as their Game Development Manager, Nolan has held a variety of roles in the Full Member country over the past eight years.
A new role in the organisation, the Cricket Ireland Participation Director will lead, manage and organise the integrated delivery of a single, long-term strategy for game development and growth across Ireland in line with the ambitious targets in the strategic plan.

Nolan, a former Irish international, is charged with the task of continuing Irish cricket’s recent growth in participation numbers, which has seen cricket become Ireland’s fastest-growing sport.

The Dubliner is relishing the opportunity to become part of the Irish success story, and looking forward to starting in the job early next year.

“I am excited to take on the role and look forward to developing strong relationships with the Provincial Unions and Clubs, working with them to strengthen their pathways and grow the game,” said Nolan.

“Something I have learned over time, is that you only pursue the possibilities you’re aware of. Part of my passion for this position is the opportunity to ensure everyone across the country is aware of the possibility of playing cricket to support Cricket Ireland’s strategic objective ‘making cricket mainstream’.”

Cricket Ireland CEO Warren Deutrom welcomed Nolan to the Cricket Ireland family, and was certain that she would have a positive impact given her impeccable credentials.

“Without piling the pressure on Elaine, it’s rare you find such a seemingly ideal match in a recruitment situation,” said Deutrom.

“With experience in a Full Member country – the one on which we try to model ourselves most closely given its size – knowledge of working at club, provincial and national level, experience of growing cricket locally and nationally, being Irish and a former international cricketer to boot, it’s fair to say Elaine ticked most of the boxes!

“The Participation Director role is new, very broad and likely to be enormously challenging, but it’s difficult to imagine anyone better qualified to take it on.

“We wish Elaine the very best of luck in this exciting new role and look forward enormously to working with her.”
