Ireland Women have named their squads for the forthcoming series against Bangladesh at Bready.

Top-order players Meg Kendal and Shauna Kavanagh replace Cath Dalton and Una Raymond-Hoey in the ODI squad, with the selectors taking the opportunity to examine their options ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers next year.
All-rounder Robyn Lewis returns to the squad after injury – she replaces opening bowler Louise McCarthy who is unavailable due to college commitments.

“With all games leading to the ICC World Cup Qualifiers in February these series are a great opportunity for both selectors to have a look at some players at the next level, and for players to put their stamp on positions in the side,” said Head Coach Aaron Hamilton.

“We have already seen some very good performances in the recent series against South Africa and I expect players to keep putting their hand up throughout this series.”

Ireland gained victories in both the T20 and ODI formats against the South Africans, who were ranked fifth in the world, and Hamilton welcomed the opportunity to build on that success with the four games against Bangladesh – whom Ireland beat last December to win the T20 WCQ tournament in Thailand.

“These types of series are so important for the growth of women’s cricket in this country. The double-headers with the men’s T20 games is an exciting step forward for the game. I look forward to our players putting their skills on show in front of another home crowd in Bready next month.”

Ireland play Bangladesh in the T20 format on September 5 and 6, before switching to ODI mode for matches on Thursday September 8 and Saturday September 10 – all games starting at 10:30am.
