Ireland Under 17s will face Worcestershire Academy in two fixtures during the Irish summer as the journey towards the next Under 19 World Cup begins.
The ICC have made changes to regional age group events, meaning teams like Ireland, Scotland and The Netherlands who would traditionally play in European Championships, are now able to find their own fixtures and tailor them more specifically towards their needs.
“Due to the changes regarding ICC regional events we see this as a fantastic opportunity to challenge our youngsters with some quality fixtures in conditions outside Ireland” said Shapoorji Pallonji Cricket Ireland Academy Manager Craig Hogan.
“Elliot Wilson and the Worcestershire County Cricket Club have been very supportive and we look forward to building on the partnership in the future. The week in Worcestershire will complement the series against Scotland and will begin the preparations for this group for the next Under 19 World Cup.”
The fixtures will be held in Worcestershire and consist of two separate two day games, giving both sides four days of competitive cricket. The games will both be in early August and will be held at Stourbridge and Bromsgrove Cricket Clubs respectively.
