Ireland Qualify for World Cup with Thailand win

The first round draw for the O’Neill’s Ulster Cup was made this week, throwing up some interesting ties in the ever popular competition.
Last season’s winners North Down will travel to the North West to face Eglinton, a tie made all the more interesting after the inability of Eglinton to produce a Duckworth-Lewis sheet marred an Irish Senior Cup tie between the two sides two years ago.
Brothers David and Robert Rankin will face off against each other when Lisburn travel to Bready in the opening round, while Waringstown and Coleraine will face off at The Lawn in a repeat of the 203 final.
Donemana will host Civil Service North, while CIYMS received a bye straight to the second round when Drummond did not enter the competition due to the club not playing on Sunday’s.
Their NCU rivals Instonians will face a tough tie against Brigade, with Ardmore facing Derriaghy and Strabane hosting Carrickfergus.
The draw for the O’Neill’s Ulster Shield and O’Neill’s Ulster Plate also took place with holders Woodvale travelling to Burndennett in the opening round while runners-up Fox Lodge have an away tie against Academy.
Glendermott will host Saintfield and Bangor will make the trip to Newbuildings.
St Johnston will look to make a positive start to the season as they travel to Downpartrick, with Killyclooney making the trip to Armagh and Templepatrick head to Bonds Glen.
The draw for the O’Neills Shield also took place.
