Both Ireland Under 19s and Leinster Lightning secured big wins over the visiting Denmark national side at YMCA today.
This morning saw the Ireland Under 19 side get their summer off to a flying star with a seven wicket win over the visitors, in what is a huge year for the youth side with the ICC Under-19 Qualifiers taking place.

Having been set a target of 137 to win, William McClintock and Adam Dennison were the stars with the bat for Ireland, with the former blasting 53 from 51 balls at the top of the innings, before Dennison saw the home side over the in the 19th over with a blistering 67 from just 43 deliveries.

The pair combined will to put on a third wicket stand of 86, facing an attack which included former England Test bowler Amjad Khan.

Earlier, David Murphy picked up three wickets wickets for 28 from his fours, while Tom Stanton was also among the wickets with 2-27. Zameer Khan was the top scorer for the visitors with 56 from 42 balls.

Next up for the Under 19s is a matche against the North West Warriors on Sunday April 26th.

In the afternoon the crowd at YMCA were treated to the Kenny Carroll show as the former international blasted his way to an impressive 121 from just 68 balls, including 15 fours and 3 maximums, as the Lightning raced to 187-3 off their 20 overs.

The next highest scorer, another man who has worn the shamrock, was Dom Joyce who hit 35, while Simmi Singh hit 15.

The Danish chase never looked like getting close to the Lightning’s target, and they ran out of time with 129 and the board and eight wickets lost. Yaqoob Ali was the pick of the Lightning bowling attack taking 3-14 off his 4 overs.
