With just one month to go until the Royal London One-Day International between Ireland and England at Malahide, the building work to increase the capacity of the village ground started yesterday.
The match will be the first chance to see Ireland play since their World Cup campaign in Australia and New Zealand, and a sell-out crowd is expected to welcome the team back onto Irish soil.

Royal London jumped at the chance to be part of the exciting match, and the two teams will be playing for the Royal London One-Day International Trophy on May 8th.

The first stage of work at the ground was to mark out the outlines of where different structures would be placed, before groundwork was started in preparation for larger machinery and building materials arriving in the coming days.

Contractors then started removing parts of the perimeter fencing in order to extend the ground and add in temporary stands and a media centre to accommodate the 10,000 people expected on the day.
