Half centuries from Lorcan Tucker and Jack Tector helped Ireland’s Under 19’s chase down 240, as they gained revenge against their Dutch counterparts at Rathmines.
FULL SCORECARD

Tucker top scored with 67 from 89 balls (8 fours), sharing vital partnerships of 66 with skipper Tector (51), and 54 with his brother Fiachra (21).

Tector, who has played for Glamorgan seconds this season, had earlier helped Peter Eakin (33), rebuilding the innings after the loss of openers Sonny Cott (6), Gary McClintock (10), and Tuesday’s batting star James McCollum (21).

There was a late wobble for Ireland when both Tuckers fell with just four runs needed, but Bobby Gamble held his nerve to secure the two wickets win, striking the winning boundary with seven balls to spare.

Zulifiqar (3-39), Farooq (2-27) and Overdijk (2-38) were the pick of the Dutch attack.

YMCA speedster Gamble was the most impressive of the Irish bowlers on view, striking the stumps twice to halt the Netherlands batting charge.

Nine of the ten Dutch batters reached double figures in an impressive display, with Sikander Zulfiqar (42) and Hidde Overdijk (41) their top scorers.

The Irish attack stuck to their task well, with two wickets apiece for Gamble (2-31), Ross Allen (2-36), Rory Anders (2-47), and Rishi Chopra (2-55).

The teams meet again this morning (THUR) in a T20 encounter, again at Rathmines (11am).
