Leinster Under-15s claimed the 2014 Inter-Provincial title after they defeated the North West in today’s decider at Shaws Bridge.
A comprehensive 114 run victory over the North West ensured Leinster lifted the Under-15 Inter-Provincial Shield as they completed a clean-sweep at Shaws Bridge today.

Batting first, Jamie Grassi led by example as his 50 from 61 balls laid the perfect platform for Leinster to build on to record a first innings score of 230-8 off their 50 overs. There was also a half century for Josh Murphy, who finished unbeaten on 65, while there were also contributions from O’Gorman (39) and Tector (20).

North West skipper Graeme Kennedy picked up 3-44, while Varun Chopra continued his fantastic form with the ball taking an impressive 2-7 off his 10 overs, which include 5 maidens.

The North West reply never gathered momentum and, despite a middle order rally from McCorkill (20) and Chopra (17), wickets fell with regularity and they were bowled out for 116 in the 34th over.

The wickets were shared amongst the Leinster bowlers with Little, Neville, O’Neill and Tector all picking up two wickets apiece with JJ Garth and Ian Anders taking the remaining two.

In today’s other match, also at Shaws Bridge, a good bowling performance from the Southern XI saw the NCU reduced to 113 all out in 45 overs, and it could have been even better for the bowling side were it not for 28 extras. James Hume top-scored for the NCU with 33, while Eoin Barron was the pick of the bowlers with 4-25 off his 10 overs.

The Southerners response started brightly with both openers getting starts, but after number 4 Andrew Vincent departed for 33 with the score on 65 the batting sides hopes of victory faded and they were bowled out for 81 in the 35th over. Topping and Hodgson impressed with the ball taking 4 wickets each.
