The Irish Universities Cricket Association Indoor Cricket Intervarsities tournament started today in Galway with eleven sides looking to become champions.
The Irish Universities Cricket Association indoor cricket intervarsities began in 2006. This year is the 7th year, with NUIG hosting for the fourth time. They are looking to retain the trophy after ending with a draw with DBS last year. The tournament this year is being played with 11 teams, and this year is a special one as it is the first time a ladies team has entered. I personally like to welcome them to the tournament with keep having big numbers every year since 2006.

The teams who have entered this year are: National University of Ireland, Galway, Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, Dublin University Men’s, Institute of Technology Carlow, Dublin Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology Tallaght, Dublin City University, Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, Dublin University Ladies’, Institute of Technology Sligo and National College of Ireland.

The teams have been split into two groups with matches taking place all day on Thursday and Friday with the top four in each group playing off in Quarter-Finals right the way down to a final on Friday evening which will crown the champions for 2013.

Group A
NUI Galway
Royal College Surgeons
Dublin University
IT Carlow
Dublin Institute Technology
IT Tallaght

Group B

Dublin City University
Galway Mayo Institute Technology
Dublin University Ladies
