Another Big win for Ireland as they make it two wins from two games in Guernsey.
Ireland recorded a second win in two games today in Guernsey, recovering to post a competitive total after a top order collapse.

Batting first after winning the toss, Ireland collapsed to 53-5 on a damp pitch with James Duckett taking four wickets before captain Jack Tector scored 32 to get the Irish innings back on track. When he was out the score was 79-6, and there was still much work to be done.

The lower order then performed admirably, led by the two Delanys. Gareth Delany top scored with 52 before he was run out, whilst cousin David scored 34. An unbeaten 25 from William McBrine took the Ireland score to 226-9 from their 50 overs.

After losing Caolan Feeney in the first over, Jersey started their run chase with some intent, the second wicket pair putting on 73 before William Harris was out for 21. Jonty Jenner then helped take the score to 88-2.

A collapse then started, with Jenner being out for 54. At one point Jersey lost four wickets for four runs in five overs and they were bowled out for 107, Gareth Delany completing a fine all-round performance with 3-12.

After having a day off on the opening day of the tournament, Scotland started their campaign with a relatively easy win over hosts Guernsey at Port Soif today.

Guernsey captain Alex Bushell won the toss and chose to bowl first on a pitch with a greenish tinge to it, and Scotland’s opening pair put on 39 before Scott Cameron was caught behind for 21.

The Guernsey slow bowlers then slowed the scoring rate and took wickets regularly, reducing the Scots to 71-4 and 106-7. The lower order managed to get after the Guernsey attack once the slow bowlers came off, and they eventually reached 170-9 from their 50 overs, Cameron Sloman top scoring with an unbeaten 28.

The Guernsey reply got off to the worst possible start as Thomas Hilton and Cameron Sloman tore through their top order to reduce them to 6-5. A recovery of sorts saw Guernsey reach 68-6, Edward Lawrence scoring 30.

But three wickets without a run being added to the score put paid to any hopes Guernsey had of batting out their 50 overs and they were bowled out for 81 to lose by 89 runs.

Guernsey did well to recover from being 6-5, but this was another disappointing performance for them after yesterday’s defeat to Ireland. They now have two days rest before they take on their Channel Island rivals Jersey on Thursday. Scotland’s next match is tomorrow against Jersey.
