The World Stage awaits
Ireland Men’s T20 World Cup squad announced

With the assistance of two key supporters, Hanley Energy and Toyota Ireland, the women’s game in Ireland is growing participation and providing a pathway for elite player development and production.
In April, ahead of the 2017 domestic season kicking off, Hanley Energy announced they would be continuing their support of Cricket Ireland as headline sponsor of the women’s senior international team.
Meanwhile, Toyota Ireland’s partnership in the innovative Super 3’s format continues throughout the 2017 season.
Clive Gilmore, CEO of Hanley Energy welcomed the new agreement, recognising that 2017 “holds much promise” for the talented squad. Mr Gilmore continued that he was “really pleased” to be sponsoring the Irish women’s cricket team.
At a time when women’s international sport is gaining increased attention and coverage, this increased funding had an immediate impact. The senior team were able to travel to Abu Dhabi for 3 one day matches with an England XI ahead of their Quadrangular Tournament in South Africa.
Ian Corbett, Marketing Manager of Toyota Ireland sees the Super 3s as a “really positive and progressive partnership”.
The innovative Toyota Super 3’s Series continues throughout the domestic 2017 season. Seen as an ideal bridge between club and international cricket, 49 of the brightest talents in the country in 18 matches across T20 and 50 over formats.
Laura Delany has moved to the Typhoons, allowing Shauna Kavanagh to gain more leadership opportunities with the Dragons, while Kim Garth continues in her role as Scorchers captain.
There are real signs of the development of Irish women’s cricket in the North in the inclusion of five players from Bready, Burndennett, Saintfield and North Down. Irish Head Coach Aaron Hamilton is anticipating a high standard of competitive cricket.
The Super 3 season had expected to begin on Saturday May 28th but due to the inclement weather, the first match took place in Pembroke CC on Sunday June 11th between the Scorchers and the Typhoons. In the end it was Kim Garth’s Scorchers who came out on top, defeating Laura Delany’s Typhoons by 60 runs on D/L.
Irish women’s cricket is taking big strides forwards both on and off the pitch. The benefits, some of which are already being seen, will assist all levels as the experience gained permeates through the levels and club structure.
