Stormont – Northern Knights hit their way to an impressive IP50 win in a rain reduced game.

After winning the toss Munster Reds looked to make early inroads with favourable bowling conditions but the Northern Knights top order grafted hard to stay in the contest.

Spin from Michael Frost immediately built pressure with appreciable turn on offer which left the home side reeling at 72-4.

Ben Calitz (103) and Ruhan Pretorius (91) soon lined up the spin attack and helped power the Knights to 279 for 7 with all feeling the heat except Brandon Kruger who walked away with 3-39 (9).

Munster Reds struggled to keep up with the required run rate against exceptional new ball bowling from Matthew Foster and Ruhan Pretorius, but rain soon paused play.

Rain would then intervene for a second time, with the final requirement being 152 to win from 66 balls for Munster Reds with Northern Knights well ahead.

Liam McCarthy came out swinging with 46 off 18. But with 90 needed off 32 when he was dismissed the Knights were always on top.
