Wicket-keeper Mary Waldron has been appointed as Ireland captain for the reminder of the ECB County Championship and ECB T20 Tournament.
The National Selectors have appointed Waldron to take over the reigns from Isobel Joyce following her decision to take a break from the ECB competitions, along with Clare Shillington, due to time pressures and workload.

Waldron’s first task will be to lead her side out on to the field at Spytty Park in Newport where Ireland will take on Wales in their fifth game of the ECB County Championship Division Two on Sunday.

Ireland have had a mixed campaign thus far with two wins and two loses from their four matches and currently lie in 5th place, while Wales sit in 3rd. The team for that clash has been named:

Ireland:
Mary Waldron (Capt – Malahide)
Laura Delany (Leinster)
Fiona Gill (Malahide)
Cecelia Joyce (Merrion)
Shauna Kavanagh (Pembroke)
Amy Kenealy (Leinster)
Louise McCarthy (Pembroke)
Kate McKenna (Merrion)
Lucy O’Reilly (YMCA)
Una Raymond Hoey (Clontarf)
Rebecca Rolfe (Leinster)
Elena Tice (Merrion)

Play gets underway at Spytty Park at 10.30am on Sunday – follow updates on Twitter @IrishWomensCric
