Lenister let off the hook by NCU at Stormont, while North West complete a comprehensive victory over Southern XI at Belmont.
An unbeaten 85 from Harry Tector rescued the Leinster U15s from a precarious position against NCU at Stormont. With wickets falling with regularity, Tector’s 120 ball stay proved decisive, but it could have been a lot worse for Leinster were it not for Tector’s 51 run partnership with number 11 JJ Garth which brought the score 159 all out off 45.2 overs. Of concern for the NCU side however will be the number of chances put down at crucial times as the Leinster innings could have been put to bed a lot earlier were it not for spilled chances.

Charlie Shannon was the pick of the NCU attack, his 3 wickets coming at a cost of just 19 runs off his 10 overs; there were also wickets for Robinson (2-12), Nelson (2-31) and Topping (2-43).

In reply the start to the NCU innings mirrored that of their opposition with wickets regularly falling, but a 40 run stand between Burton (39) and Hume (16) looked to have got the home side back on track. But when the two departed the balance again swung in the favour of Leinster and they duly took the final wicket with the NCU still 13 runs behind and 3 overs remaining.

Harry Tector picked up 3-27 from his 10 overs, while there was 2 apiece for Josh Little and Aaron O’Neill.

Over at Belmont it was all one-way traffic as the North West inflicted a second heavy defeat on the Southern XI in as many days. Having won the toss and elected to bat first, only opener Sean Currie provided any resistance to the North West attack – his was the last wicket fall with his own score on 57 and the team score on 80. Varun Chopra was again in the wickets with 4-14 off his 10, while Harry Waterstone finished with 3-23.

Aaron Cawley made an early breakthrough for Southern XI, dismissing Alford for 9 in the 6th over. But from there on it was plain sailing for the North West as Dougherty (38) and Colhoun (28) saw their side home in the 16th over for a 9 wicket win.

North West’s win sets up a title decider with Leinster on the final day of matches – play gets underway at Shaws Bridge at 11am.
