Selfless leg bye
Ireland Men make it 2-from-2 against Italy; Tector hits remarkable 96*

Leinster recorded a big win over the Southern XI at Cregagh, while the North West got the better of NCU at Stormont on the opening day of the Cricket Ireland Under-15 Inter-Provincial tournament.
A century from Sam Murphy and a five wicket haul for JJ Garth helped Leinster Under-15s to a massive 186 run win over the Southern XI in the opening match of the Inter-Provincial tournament at Cregagh.
YMCA batsman Murphy’s 124 came in just 138 balls and featured 18 fours and 2 sixes, as Leinster piled on 276-6 in their 50 overs. Murphy was well supported by Josh Murphy (29*), Conor O’Gorman (29) and captain Jamie Grassi (28), while Dean Brogan picked up two wickets for the Southern XI, including that of Murphy.
The Southern XI chase never got going and when JJ Garth and David O’Connor combined to reduce the batting side from 40-3 to 41-6 their chances of stealing victory all but ended. Sean Currie top-scored for the Southerners with 21, while only numbers 9 and 10 Andrew Blair-White (17) and Shane Keane reached double figures.
Over at Stormont, the North West got their tournament off to a winning start with a 6 wicket win over NCU.
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, NCU made a solid start with Topping (14), Waite (15) and Carson (21) progressing the score to 55-1. But from there on the home side lost middle-order wickets with regularity and despite a battling 29 from number 10 James MaClean, they were bowled out in the 47th over for 130.
Spin was the order of the day for the North West bowlers as leg-spinners Varun Chopra and Dawson Crumley both picked up 4 wickets each, while opening bowler Reese Kelly picked up two.
In response, Ross Dougherty (34) and Matthew Alford (35) got North West off to a flyer, and despite the loss of four wickets, Reese Kelly and Dylan McCorkill saw their side over the line in the 44th over.
Today’s matches see the North West taking on the Southern XI at Belmont, while NCU take on Leinster at Stormont.
